In honor of the the Chinese New Year we celebrated February's dinner with Ming's Dynasty. Ming's has a very authentic feel with large lion-like dragon statues at the entrance & staff in traditional dress. Ming's Dynasty offers authentic Chinese cuisine including Mandarin, Cantonese, Szechuan and seafood entrees. We arrived on a busy Friday night without reservations and began enjoying cocktails in the bar. The bartender/owner was busy but very happy to make us any one of the tropical cocktails and provide peanuts to snack on before being seated. While chatting with the girls in the bar I noticed a large volume of take out customers coming & going, leading me to salivate even more seeing the popularity of the establishment.

Upon being seated at a large round table, the lovely owner enticed us with the volcano cocktail complete with flaming center & long straws for all to indulge; we ordered two. With such a large menu to choose from we began with the cheese fried won tons, fried dumplings, egg drop soup, hot & sour soup and a pu pu platter which held a variety of yummy delights and a warming center to boot! I must say I like the strips of fried won tons on every table & the homemade sweet & sour dipping sauce with a nice dose of ginger!

As we commenced with dinner I ordered my favorite, the prawns in hot garlic sauce! A spicy brown sauce with slices of garlic & fresh veggies--this is the best I have ever experienced. So many other delights like Jenny's sesame tofu & Lara's pork fried rice were enjoyed along with another flaming volcano. The service was very attentive and everyone so very friendly. The owners, a husband & wife, treated us to a special shot of expensive Chinese sake to ring in the new year. What a wonderful experience we had from the flaming volcano's to the warm hospitality. Reservations are not necessary and they have an all you can eat lunch buffet that would be worth checking out!

FLAMING VOLCANOES!! Whoo! I loved Ming's. We had to wait a little while for a table because the joint was packed -- and now I know why. This place is great! We started at the bar and ordered an assortment of cocktails. The cutest gal, who is the owner as we found out, served us up and got us seated. She and her husband offer amusing and delightful service. Once we were settled, we started with a round of Flaming Volcanoes and also ordered some appetizers. I tried the crab cheese wontons (rangoons as they list 'em Kansas), and some shrimp. Both were tasty and I probably could have made my dinner out of that alone. I ordered the Sesame Tofu for my entree, the same thing I choose every time I order Chinese Food anywhere I go. Sesame Tofu is my favorite dish and I like to compare it with others. If the Sesame Tofu is good, I know I will like other things on the menu too. If the Sesame Tofu is bad, I don't want to go back. I particularly liked Ming's Sesame Tofu. The sauce was just right, not too sweet, not too thick, not too thin, and it didn't taste like it had been made a long time ago. It went well with the Appletini/Volcano/Sake Shot that I had been drinking. There was no way we could eat all of that food and took the rest to go. And some of it wound up on the backseat of my car. But it was worth it.

MING'S!!!
I know I asked several times, but how to say "thank you" in Cantonese completely escapes me now!!
Ming's is now my new favorite Chinese restaurant but it makes me sad because it is sooo far from my house.

First...Bartender/Owner/Cutest Little Woman Alive...I thank you for Appletini and Flaming Volcano of Love.

Second...Adorable Little Owner Man...I thank you for making it so hard for me to choose what to have for dinner. I know that Chinese restaurants are famous for having a million things on their menus but with most places you will find that they are all the same million things. Not Mings!!! They had so many interesting dishes, all of them delicious sounding, it was hard to choose.
I had the Mango Chicken which was cooked to glorious perfection. The chicken was not smashed to bits it was plump and juicy and divine.
I also tasted Caroline's beef dish (???) which was excellent and Jen's Sesame Tofu was the best that I have ever had.

Third...I would like to thank those Cutiepie Owners together for bringing out that Crazy Chinese New Year Sake. Wow! What a treat. When someone suggested that we might have another I almost cried. I did not care for that...but it was a really fun thing to try especially with a great group of gals in the perfect place at just the right time!

For their excellent atmosphere, their superb menu, their fabulous food, their exceptional service:
Ming's Rules the Dynasty!!!

Happy Chinese New Year!
xoxo

Ashay ashay (something like that?)

Yummy! It is so rare to eat yummy and tasty Chinese food. Usually it is just good, but this was actually fresh and tasty. I loved my fried rice. I think it was the best I ever had (isn't that a song?) Jenny's tofu was yummy! The apps were yummy!

Now for the drinks! Those rocked! Volcano was fun! How many of those did we order? The shots, while strong, were also fun.

I would love to go there often, but I too do not live close. It will be for special occasions!
