Un Dîner Magnifique

Le Central - The Affordable French Restaurant
112 E 8th - Denver
December 13, 2007
In attendance: Ang., Carol, Caroline, Jenny, Katie, Lara, Marie

We love Le Central. We have a long history here and this restaurant is a perennial favorite. Other than being stuck in a difficult to get in-and-out-of corner, the ambiance, our waitstaff, our food, everything was marvelous, as usual.

We started at the bar sipping martinis & wine while waiting for our table. Once we were seated, we ordered a round of appetizers including Mussels & Escargot, Garlic & Brie - and more wine. For individual reviews, please see comments.

All in all, as one of our favorite restaurants in Denver, we would always recommend Le Central. There is something here for everyone to enjoy!

Bonus!!!

The Westword Menu Affair
Fillmore Auditorium
Thursday, October 18th
In Attendance:
Ang., Jen, Marie, Caroline and Katie
(The Lovely Chadwick and MC Ro-Land were bonus babes for the evening!)

You call it an Affair, I call it a One Night Stand.

This year the event was held at the Fillmore Theatre…Ugh!!!
It just did not have the upscale feel that it had the year before at Mile High Stadium (yep, I’m one of those, can’t really bring myself to call it by it’s corporate name!)
The Fillmore seemed so much more crowded and, yet, empty at the same time. The lines were usually long but they jutted from the tables rather than wrapping around and snaking through the whole thing…good or bad, I dunno just didn’t’ seem as efficient.
There was definitely not enough seating, even though the balcony and the west side area of the Fillmore was not being used at all.

Before we get to the food, I want to say something quick about the "live entertainment". This is a freakin' music venue...could anyone hear the band...anyone??? And the Iron Chef Denver thing was boring...problem was, they had it on the stage while any spectators they might have had were in the audience pit. Even though they had the jumbotron out no one could see what these guys were doing...word of advice, people might have been more interested it you would have had this demonstration at eye-level. Just a thought...throwin' it out there.

Now...the food affair.

There did not seem to be as many “vendors” as last year and the variety of food was just not present. But…if you were in the mood for Green Chile, well…you had come to the right place because I think there were about 3 or 4 places that had it. There were barely any vegetarian items and some of the restaurants didn’t seem to think of how people were going to actually eat their food.
There really wasn’t anything there that blew my mind (Note: I did not have the duck crepes and they seemed to be evening favorite!) The only thing that I really super enjoyed was the Tuna Tartar but I could not tell you the name of the restaurant that it came from because if I hadn’t been standing in line at the back corner bar I would never have come across them.
OH…I did love the organic, eco-friendly chocolates (this makes me sad that I cannot remember their name…but they were the cute little gals that were taking back their little foil wrappers for recycling and not the guy with the boxes and boxes of bars that he wasn’t giving away!) And the Danger Coffee…yum!!!
Anywhoo…the night wasn’t a total wash…there might have been no Chambord but there was plenty of vodka and that Amarula Cream stuff makes my belly happy!!
So…thank you again, Roland, but this year just didn’t really make me want to say MMMMMMMM.

The Mercury Cafe

Thursday, Oct 11, 2007
The Mercury Cafe
Jen's Pick
2199 California Street
Denver, CO 80205
Hours not posted on website
Attendees: Ang., Caroline, Jen, Lara

I picked The Mercury Cafe as it seemed to continue with my trend of choosing granola-y, kooky, vegetarian-friendly restaurants. I remembered it as being fun and atmospheric from the days when we used to hang out upstairs to watch our favorite band but had only eaten here once and hardly remember it. (Now I know why)

Altho they list an email address, the website says they would rather speak in person. This is curious as I emailed "marilyn" (who I believe is the owner) to let someone know we were coming. I'm pretty sure the website did not state that they would prefer to speak in person at the time I emailed or I would have just called. Either way, I never received a response. Makes me wonder why you would post an email address at all!? At any rate, I'm going to call it strike one.

Lara & Caroline arrived first and were sipping wine at the bar when Ang. & I arrived. I had to search for someone to seat us and finally approached a bar and asked someone. After some waffling, we were seated at a table in the middle of the room. There was a large book club or something next to us and apparently that is why it took our waitress what seemed like an eternity to get to our table. She was quiet, and somewhat spiritless and I had to ask her to repeat herself several times as she was very hard to hear. We ordered a bottle of wine and our dinners and wondered how long it might be...... We nibbled on the dry, flavorless bread while we waited.

In the meantime, there is this guy who seems to "work" here and he is wearing a fuzzy hat. For the life of me I cannot figure out what his job must be but I digress. He walks from the kitchen toward the bar and he is chewing food -- with his mouth open. Ewww - I think this is really gross and in poor taste. I do not mention it to the girls. Strike two.

I got a salad with my dinner - I chose the feta dressing. It was nothing special and the dressing was on the bland side. It was ok, but like I say, nothing special. Our dinners arrive, I ordered the Tempeh with Black Bean Sauce and quinoa - I find it surprisingly tasty. The tempeh is sliced not-to-thick, not-to-thin, and the black bean sauce is a nice distraction from the dryness of the tempeh. The quinoa was, quinoa, which is nice but the vegetables were probably my least favorite as the green beans were kind of... hard? Undercooked? I'm not sure, but they were weird.

Lara & Caroline ordered the "Tea" dinner so they got desserts with their dinners. Our dinners were gone but our plates sat in front of us, even as desserts were served. This is totally annoying to me - a total peeve. The desserts plates actually looked awesome, I think I had a bite but am not much for sweets right after dinner. So I do not count the desserts toward my review and offer a strike three for the dirty plates that never left our sight.

We finally paid our bill and got the heck outta there. The "Merc" doesn't accept credit cards, by the way, so keep this in mind should you choose to attend. I am pretty sure I was the most disappointed by this dinner but I'll let the other gals speak for themselves. I personally won't return the Mercury Cafe by my own choosing - I'll have to be forced.

On a positive sidenote - I love the water-recycling toilets at The Mercury Cafe. This is brilliant and should be used everywhere!

Soups On!!

Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007
Caroline's Pick
The Original SoupMan
500 16th Street, Suite 136
Denver , CO 80202
Mon-Fri: 11:00am - 8:00pm
Sat: 11:00am - 8:00pm
Sun: 11:00am - 7:00pm
Attendees: Ang., Carol, Caroline, Jen, Marie, Rhonda

The infamous Denver Dinnergirls had a wonderful time at our latest restaurant...The International Soup Kitchen located in downtown Denver, just off the 16th Street Mall. Someone had noticed on the website that the place was only open until 8:00 p.m., so I called ahead to see if we needed reservations or if there was even any seating inside the restaurant. We had no idea.

When I called a really friendly man named Rick (the owner) answered. I called right at lunch time, so I am sure the store was busy. I told Rick we wanted to come in with a group and would not make it there until 7:00 p.m. He commented there would be plenty of room at that time of night. His concern was having some food left for us!! The style of this restaurant is to make so much soup each day and when it's gone, it's gone. So he offered to stash some away so we would be sure to have our pick when we arrived so late. He suggested the lobster bisque and a turkey chili. Also suggested he would have some turkey sandwiches available if we wanted. I was so impressed by his friendliness and willingness to accomodate our group, and the time he spent talking to me at during his lunch hour!

I laughed my way through the conversation and he asked me to call ahead in the morning and tell him how many I thought would be there. This is the type of customer service which is commonly lacking in our restaurant scene unless you are at a very high-priced establishment where you pay to be treated well. Wow, I was really looking forward to this and so were all the girls. We each reviewed the rules of the soup kitchen and laughed at their website which lists these rules in about 17 different languages!

A warm fall night, we girls headed to the Light Rail Station to travel downtown for our evening of fun! We got on the train and enjoyed our trip downtown. We laughed most of the way and were all getting hungry as we arrived at the Kitchen. It was much brighter and more modern than I had envisioned, and from what I could see was very clean. We were the only people there and that was great because we all had questions. You walk up to the counter and place your order and get your drink.

Rick came out and greeted us and said there was plenty of soup and salads and food for all of us. He did recommend the lobster bisque which is a favorite. The staff behind the counter who took our food order and prepared it were very friendly, indeed!! You just had to like them, although I appreciate when people are a little more efficient. From the crowds that I knew came during the day, I felt these people must be new and still learning the system. There was a bit of confusion getting the right meal to each person,

Most of us ordered the lobster bisque, one ordered the vegetable barley. You can get a cup, or a bowl and it comes w/ a piece of french bread, an apple and a fancy Lindor chocolate for dessert! Some of us also ordered the sandwich combo. I was hungry decided upon a 1/2 chicken panini with my bisque, although I am no panini fan. We all sat down and started tasting and quickly heard ummm, yummm, hmmmm!! All positive signs! And sounds!

I grew up in Denver and always thought lobster bisque was a creamy tomato-like soup. Not this bisque, baby! It was full of large chunks of lobster and very, very tasty. It actually reminded me more of a seafood stew there was so much real lobster! Our girl Marie, from DC commented how delicious she thought it was and it reminded her of home. My sandwich was also delicious with crispy bread and tender chicken. Of course I could not resist my piece of french bread with real butter, delish! I tried Rhonda's barley soup and it was great and also chock full of barley and veggies. I think Ang ordered the muffaletta sandwich. It was lost behind the counter in the confusion and came out late, although she enjoyed it once she received it.

We learned that all of the soup is actually prepared in New York and shipped here and is heated by steam, so no flavor is lost. The menu changes daily, although I believe the lobster bisque is a mainstay.

I don't think any of us ate our apples and wanted to give them back to the restaurant. This is a health code violation, so was not allowed. We discussed having the option to take an apple only if you wanted it. I had worried the prices seemed high for soup. Everyone commented they were more than satisfied with their meal and felt the quality and quantity (and heartiness of the soup) is definitely worth the cost.

While were were there more people started coming in and Rick commented that this was the busiest they had ever been in the evening. This restaurant caters to downtown lunch folks. I surmise as the weather gets colder they will be busy all of the time. What a perfect place to stop and eat a hearty bowl of soup after shopping or walking along the mall!!

We all agreed this was a delicious and successful dinner! We usually enjoy wine with our meals and would have enjoyed it with our hearty soups and bread. Given the style of this restaurant I think serving beer would be a positive addition, although no alcohol won't keep me away. I have already recommended this restaurant to many people and wish the best to the owner.

The Denver Dinnergirls left the International Soup Kitchen and headed to Jazz at Jacks for a few sets of music by Bigga Digga. I highly recommend seeing this band although would have enjoyed it more with a hot date!!! Woohoo!! Anyhow, we enjoyed the music and had an interesting and top secret adventure on the lightrail heading home. Hmmmmm...wouldn't you love to know!!

In Cod We Trust

Marie's Pick!
GB Fish & Chips -- Get Battered!
1311 S. Broadway
Denver, CO
11.00am - 9.00pm Daily
Attendees: Ang., Carol M., Carol G., Katie, Jen, Lara, Marie

After driving past this new fish & chips joint on Broadway for a couple of months now, dreams became reality when Marie chose GB's for our August dinner. Not sure what to expect - the seven of us met up on the back patio and called the picnic tables our home. It was a pleasant evening, not too hot and the tables in the alley we shaded and other than the squawking birds living in the billboard overhead, it was quite nice.

The menu at GB is extensive for a fish & chips joint. In addition to your choice of fried "swimmers" & chips, (Cod, Tilapia, Oysters, Prawns, Squid, and scallops), GB's also offers Bangers, Pork Pie, Shepherd's Pie and several kinds of pasties.

This is how it works at GB, you view the menu - either at the counter or at a table and walk up and place your order with a friendly and cute server-gal. This is also where you order your beer. You take your drinks and grab some condiments and sit at a table. Your meal is made to order by a casual kitchen - full of handsome and friendly college-age looking guys and then delivered to your table. The inside has booths along the walls and tables in the middle but plenty of room to walk around and seemingly well-laid out.

We decided to order a basket of Fish & Chips and combination "Swimmers" & Chips along with a Pasty to split between the seven girls. I think we may have had some sides of chips too - I can't quite remember how it worked out. At any rate, we hung out drinking our Stella's & beers at happy hour prices and in no time at all our meal was delivered to our tables on the patio.

Lucky for me, I was at the end of the table so I got first pick through at the selection of combination "Swimmers" and pulled out what I was guessing to be a scallop, a shrimp, and what turned out to be a strip of squid. Then I chose a piece of tilapia from the fish basket, squeezed the plate with lemon and doused my pickin's and my handful of chips with malt vinegar, picked up a chip and took my first bite.

The chip was pretty much perfect -- the flattened rectangle-y kind, a few inches in length -- perfect for dipping in tartar or your favorite sauce -- fried crispy on the outside and soft on the inside -- but not too mushy. I sprinkled on salt, dipped ate a few more and picked up my first non-chip item -- the scallop. I dipped my scallop into the tiny little cup of tartar sauce and took a half-a-bite, not sure how hot it would be. It was pretty hot, but tender, and juicy, perfectly battered, and perfectly cooked -- delicious. I dipped the other half in the sauce and popped it in - a perfect bite.

It was at this time that I realized that there was no way the tiny little cup of tartar sauce I got from the basket, was ever going to be enough for dipping my selections of fish & chips. So I got up and walked inside and asked for more. I shared them amongst the girls and moved on to item number two: the shrimp.

The shrimp is large, a large shrimp that looked like it needed some more vinegar. I sprinkled some on the end and took my first bite - just like the scallop, it was perfect - if not even a little large - for me at least. I sprinkled on the vinegar for another bite or two, ate a few chips and selected the next item saving the fish for last, the squid. It was a long strip and upon first bite I found that it was tender and not at all chewy - a treasure to behold, but not my very favorite, which so far, was the scallop, or maybe the shrimp. Hmm. Not sure.

My last swimmer was a small piece of tilapia, a nice little triangle piece, calling out for tartar sauce. By now, we've all eaten pretty much all of the tartar sauce in the little tiny cups. Fortunately, some nice girl had a some left and passed it over -- and now for the fish. I broke the piece in half, sprinkled it with vinegar and stuck it in the tartar -- just like the pieces before it. I took a bite and to my delight it was as super as you'd expect, cooked flaky but not overdone with a crispiness that is just right. And to my curiosity, not served with skin-on as they did everywhere in London when I was once there.

Stella. More stella.

Perfectly timed - as I remember it - it was at this time a guy came out and asked us if we wanted any more beer and took away some of our empty plates. Not having had enough, we also threw on another order of combination fish. A few minutes later, we were splitting it up again, and even though I was dying for a piece of cod, they were very big and I was feeling full - and I didn't want to take all of the good stuff because I already had so much! Katie shared a bite of hers however, so I felt totally satisfied by my crispy, battered, totally fried, dinner.

This is a long blog. Sorry. But there is more -- and it is so interesting! I must continue...

It is now that the good looking gentleman we saw earlier came out again to steal away for a smoke. I asked him his name (Alex) and then I asked him a bunch more questions. Turns out, Alex is the owner and they had been open for about 3 or 4 months - I think. Alex was inspired for the restaurant from spending summers and time in England where his father is from while he was growing up. His father actually came out back too and we discussed the pasty dough recipe that he insists is the best - the cold kind -- I did not try the pasty myself so I cannot say how it was but as I recall, other girls found it quite agreeable. Anyway, Alex told us that the business is doing well and they are even considering expanding into the upstairs one day -- with perhaps a bar and maybe a pool table. We eagerly urged him on.

After the fellas went back inside, the rest of us hung out on the picnic tables to finish our beers and head out as they close at 9:00. Another employee came out back, the cute gal at the counter whose name now escapes me -- but she chatted it up, expressed that she really enjoyed her job and hung out with the girls for few before heading in to close up. We finished our beers, climbed in our cars and headed out our separate ways, in anticipation of our next dinner!

Now we have eaten at a variety of restaurants in every kind of cuisine, but it seems that sometimes the simplest dinners are the best. I give GB Fish & Chips five out five stars -- my only complaint being the teeny-tiny tartars. Otherwise, it has been one of my favorites and I already can't wait to go back!

Pasquini's!

Rhonda’s Pick
Dinnergirls attending: Ang., Carol, Marie, and Rhonda

If you are local to the Denver area, you know about Pasquini’s at 1310 South Broadway and Louisiana. Pasquini’s is a cute and funky little dive that features an upstairs and a downstairs. Guests can either sit upstairs near the bar or sit downstairs in the kitchen action. Pasquini’s tables are small but cozy and tiled with various mosaics. They also feature local artwork on the walls. The Dinnergirls were seated downstairs at a corner table for four. This was a small gathering, and we missed the other girls.

Luckily, the girls had already ordered a large pitcher of red sangria before being seated, and so began our wait. Our server was a bit on the nutty side, and asked us what we wanted to order before seeing a menu. Yes, the place was packed so we decided to be patient. Finally, the menus arrived as we continued to sip glasses of ice-cold sangria.

When we finally decided to order and the server came back, Ang and Carol shared a pizza with fresh basil and herbs (I think), I had STUFFED SHELLS, and Rhonda ordered a huge salad. Dinner prices at Pasquini’s vary from around $8 (small pizza) to $10-20(specialty pastas).

The pizza looked and smelled fabulous and is usually a sure hit at Pasquini’s. Ang and Carol finished their pizza so it must have been great! My stuffed shells were very good. I am somewhat of an Italian food snob, but these were the yummiest stuffed shells I have had at a restaurant. The cheese was bubbly and gooey just the way I like it. The sauce was a little tart for me, but good in my opinion and definitely not Prego. Rhonda’s salad looked crisp and refreshing, but I know that in the back of her mind she wanted my stuffed shells or a nibble of pizza. We were at an Italian restaurant after all.

The sangria was a flowing and the girls chattered away about mother-in-law hell. As we finished Ang decided to order a sub to go. During our long wait for the sub, another table kindly offered us their unfinished pitcher of sangria. Turn down Sangria? I think not. About 20-25 minutes went by and no sub. We think our server was hitting the crack pipe hard that night and neglected us. Alas, the sub arrived and we were on our merry way!

Overall, we still love Pasquini’s right girls? If nothing else, go there for the stuffed shells and a $5 pitcher of sangria! Try sitting upstairs and maybe you will not be in the nutty server section. Don’t worry Katie we still tipped her!

Washington Park

Dinnergirls Pick!
Dinngergirls attending:
Ang, Caroline, Carol, Jen, Lara, Marie, Rhonda & Abby

What a beautiful evening for dinner in one of Denver’s most beautiful spots, Washington Park or as the locals call it, “Wash Park.” Dinner was on June 14th and the weather was perfect!

Each year in the summer months, the Denver Dinnergirls go to Wash Park for a picnic dinner. Our perfect table was located at the east entrance to the park at the end of Mississippi Avenue. I think that from now on this particular table will be the Dinnergirls spot! We seem to be able to snatch up this table at each park picnic. The table was centered around plenty of shady trees, lush green grass, and was a perfect spot for catching up!

Now it’s time to write about the star of the evening, the food! All of the girls attending prepare or buy scrumptious snacks, divine salads, grilled treats, and decadent desserts to bring to the park. The assortment of food and the unique recipes each girl brought to the table was just amazing! Here are some of the wonderful foods we shared:

Pesto Cream Cheese Spread
Cheese & Crackers
Chips
Fruit
Shrimp Summer Rolls with Peanut Dipping Sauce
Salads, raspberry salad and Jen’s salad I did not get to try
Spicy Brats

Carol’s husband Rick was kind enough to make desert! When Carol put the container on the table, my eyes and stomach were happy to see fabulous lemon bars! They are simply delicious, and I think each Dinnergirl had two or three.

Sangria.
The sangria was excellent. I drank a wee bit too much sangria, and may have left off a few of the dinner items. Jen made the base and each girl brought a bottle of red wine to add to the mix! Sangria was the perfect beverage for our picnic because it was refreshing and a great compliment to the wonderful food.

Rhonda brought her sweet and out going daughter Abby. Abby seemed to enjoy all the Dinnergirl’s chatter and assortment of food. We loved having her too!

Lara brought her dog Jasmine and I brought my dog Pearl. Jasmine and Pearl had a fabulous time checking each other out and visiting all the girls! Pearl crashed hard in the car on the way home!

Food, drinks, friends, and trusty furry pawed pals, made this a dinner to remember! Hangin’ out in the park after dark was a blast! We love Wash Park and highly recommend it for any picnic or a beautiful stroll around the lakes!

Benihana's Sake Fest-5/17/07

Benihana's
Carol's pick
Dinnergirls attending:
Ang., Caroline, Carol, Jen, Katie, Marie, Rhonda

Where does a large, rowdy group of girls go to have dinner prepared right in front of them?
How many shrimp tails did Chef Leo (or was it Leon?) toss onto the neighboring table?
How many sake vessels were ordered on Thursday, May 17th by the Denver Dinnergirls?

If you know the answer to the first question, then you must know our dinner in May was held at Benihana's, 3295 S Tamarac in Denver. This place serves up steak, seafood, and sushi right to your table. Our chef entertained us with his skills; our server kept the drinks and sake flowing with a cheerful smile.

If you know the answer to the other two questions, well, you should have had more sake!

The most commonly ordered meal in our group was the Hibachi Tuna--excellently prepared and complimented by a bunch of grilled veggies--yum! But my favorite was the fried rice. Double yum! The steak and chicken were a little disappointing to some in our group--perhaps concern about cooking the chook thoroughly led to it being dry?? I think Ang and Jen ordered a caterpillar roll. That looked crawly and green but tasted great.

Prices were on the high side--$21-27 for a dinner but, man, did a lot of food come at that price.

After feasting, the girls stopped in at JJ something or other on Monaco. Katie & I had a great time playing air hockey. The bar seemed to be frequented by men with a taste for metal music. Not bad but I wouldn't want to hang out there too long. They probably were shocked to see a group of women stop in!

Sidenote

Or should I say...Sticky Note!

Jen had a brilliant idea that was instigated this past Thursday...
Post-Its to keep track of the dollar amount of what you ordered. It was perfect and worked awesome.

So...from here on out that is the plan, bring your Post-It notes to keep track of your part of the bill so we don't have to torture any future wait staff by working seperate checks!

Here's to the big brain on Jen!
OPA!!!!

OH-Pah!!!

Pete's Central One
Karen-in-Antarctica's Pick
Attendees: Ang., Carol, Caroline, Jen, Katie, Marie, Rhonda

Delicious!

Our entire experience last Thursday can be described in that one word!
From the food, to the wine, the ouzo, the setting and ambiance, the cute cute cute little waitress gals and, of course, the company...everything was delicious!

Pete's Central One Cafe on the corner of Alameda and Pearl Street was the perfect pick for our short month. Now, I had not been there in quite some time but I remember it as a rather dark restaurant. I don't know when they remodeled but it was perfect...kind of open and airy for a small place, the murals on the walls were very pretty and it was very well-lit.

The service was impeccable. You know you are in for a real treat when the wait staff not only fills the ouzo to the rim of the glass but pours out for everyone and joins you in a toast.

The food and the wine were great...big portions, thank god for babes that want to share and it seems that everyone was very pleased with their leftovers the next day. I don't know what the green bean thing that I had was called by it was super fantastically yummy! Also, I have never actually had a Greek wine that was not over the top sweet but the couple bottles that we had were very good...full bodied and dry, just like I like it. And, even more amazing, very reasonably priced for restaurant wine!

All in all, it was a fantastic dinner and made even all the more special when our pretty waitress, Demetria (I am going to spell it like the name of the goddess) OH! "My friends call me D, you can call me Aphrodite!"...came outside to say goodbye to us on the patio and she invited us to come back any Thursday because that is when she works!

So...Delicious, completely sums it up!

My Brothers Bar

Thursday March 8, 2007
My Brothers Bar - Katie's pick
15th & Platte, downtown Denver
Attendees: Ang, cc:IcePrincess, Jen, Joyhawk, Kris, Lara, Rhonda, Sparkle

According to the City of Denver, My Brothers Bar is the oldest bar in Denver still serving alcohol on the original site (photos on the wall prove that the place has barely changed since the '30s). My Brothers Bar was a famous haunt for such Beats as Kerouac and Cassady. Cool!

We staggered in and were seated in the back, along the banister. It was dim and noisy, just as one would expect. After sitting around enjoying beers for a half hour or so, we ordered our dinner from our friendly waitress, Rose. Being a busy Thursday night, we had plenty of time to slug down a few more beers while waiting for our meal to arrive.

Served in paper wrapping, our sandwiches arrived accompanied by plastic boxes that house the condiments. I had the Cajun Tuna Sandwich, and I believe IcePrincess did as well. From what I could tell, everyone else had burgers. As far as tuna goes, the sandwich was decent - I would have preferred more of a "cajun" flavor and I also prefer my tuna not quite as cooked as it was, but I love this bar and the atmosphere is great and that makes even a mediocre sandwich taste fab. Not that my sandwich was mediocre - my sandwich was good - I liked it - but it wasn't... perfect. We got two sides of onion rings and fries, which seemed to be just the amount for us eight girls. Both were tasty.

I really enjoyed our dinner downtown and give My Brothers Bar 9 out of 10 stars.

xoxo

Dinnergirls Gone LIVE!

Welcome to our blog! We are eleven girls from the Denver area in search of great food and good times. We visit a new restaurant on the second Thursday of every month and have been doing so for over two years. We have tried everything from Ethiopian food (twice) to Vietnamese to Grilled Cheese for dinner. On several occasions we've gone to the park and sometimes we make dinner at someone's house. Sometimes eleven girls show up for dinner - other times there are only three. No matter where our dinner, we always have a good time. (Except for last month -- we had a bitchy waitress who I won't name here but she worked at FALLING ROCK TAPHOUSE in LoDo. The cute little gal at Swanky's made up for her though. Too bad their pool table sucks!)

We have decided to take our adventures online so read along and enjoy - we'd love to hear your comments and feedback!

xoxo,
The Denver Dinnergirls
