Un Dîner Magnifique

Le Central - The Affordable French Restaurant
112 E 8th - Denver
December 13, 2007
In attendance: Ang., Carol, Caroline, Jenny, Katie, Lara, Marie

We love Le Central. We have a long history here and this restaurant is a perennial favorite. Other than being stuck in a difficult to get in-and-out-of corner, the ambiance, our waitstaff, our food, everything was marvelous, as usual.

We started at the bar sipping martinis & wine while waiting for our table. Once we were seated, we ordered a round of appetizers including Mussels & Escargot, Garlic & Brie - and more wine. For individual reviews, please see comments.

All in all, as one of our favorite restaurants in Denver, we would always recommend Le Central. There is something here for everyone to enjoy!

I had a nightmare recently that Le Central had to close. It was terrible! Le Central was one of the first places I enjoyed when I first moved to Denver and Capitol Hill twelve years ago and I return year after year as it remains a favorite. Other than the olives in my recent martini, I have never been disappointed at Le Central. Incidentally, the olives weren't martini olives and lent a strange flavor to the vodka. I like mine salty.

Anyway, my recent favorite meal at Le Central is the Moules & Bottomless Frites. You get lots of mussels and plenty of frites for a great price. This time we enjoyed the mussels with blue cheese, which were fantastic and I tried the Moules du Midi - Mussels steamed with olives, white wine, tomato, bread crumbs, and parmesan cheese. They were absolutely delightful and deceivingly filling.

We have had parties at Le Central as well as attended cooking classes. Le Central has a great email newsletter and special deals for subscribers. I emailed our reservation for this dinner and received a reply within hours and they weren't intimated at all by my warning that we can be loud... They are always ready for us and for this we give thanks!

With service you can count on, a pleasant atmosphere, a good wine list and great prices, I will always return to Le Central and recommend it for visitors and locals alike!

I cannot remember what I ate, but I know I ate a lot! There were yummy apps, mussels, soup, and lots of wine.

It was a very festive time! We did a white elephant gift exchange with lots of fun presents!

Lamb. I had the lamb shanks whose name I do not know in French. Nicely seasoned, perfect portion, accompanied by wine--what a great night at Le Central. The restaurant is welcoming and not intimidating. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try French cuisine in a friendly and non-judgmental atmosphere. French food for everyone!

I enjoyed the muscles with the blue cheese & the rabbit or Lapin au Safran. A bit to many bones for my liking but delicious!
What a blast the white elephant exchange was & the wonderful wine.

Ah...Christmas Time at Le Central...what a treat!

The corner seating was a little cramped but it was it was fun being so close and festive!

I don't remember what I had except I remember thinking that I could have probably gotten away without ordering an entree as I think I had a portion of everyone else's dinners.
My favorites were Katie's Lapin, Carol's Lamb was very good and whatever Caroline had was really delicious.

I love Le Central. The atmosphere and the service are just incredible.
But, I have to agree with Jen about the martinis...they definitely needed better olives!
But other than that...
C'est Fantastique!!!
